So it has been a week since this race and I am just know getting a chance to write my race report. I wasn't really motivated to write it because the swim was cancelled on me again. If you are keeping score at home here has been my recent swim history
Rev 3 FL- swim cancelled (hurricane winds)
Paris Mountain Tri- Swim cancelled (water too cold)
St Anthony's- swim shortened to 750m (tide)
Peachtree City- swim cancelled (t storm)
Why is it I swim train again?
Anyway I woke up in my own bed at 4:15 am, and I grabbed my pre made Infinit MUD (pre race), Infinit bike bottle, and Gatorade and was out the door. I loaded the bike on the car and I was off.
I stopped at Dunkin Donuts for a coffee and started the 1 hour 15 min ride to Peachtree City. As I was driving the lighting was flashing and I was worried of a cancellation. 5 minutes after I arrived I learned the swim was called, and we would be starting time trial start on the bike. I decided to go out hard but play it smart as I knew the roads would be slick.
The Bike- I rode in one gear harder than I felt comfortable and maintained 90 rpm. I had to account for the wet roads, so that slowed me a bit, but overall I was very happy with the ride. 25 miles in 1:12:24 (20.7 mph avg) With dry road 22 mph is easily attainable on this course.
T2- Coming into transition it was WET and muddy. I got in and out as fast as I could. Not bad. 1:35
The Run- I ran based on heart rate and really wanted a negative split. I was trying to break 50 minutes, but came up just short. 6.2 miles in 50:14 (8:06/ mile avg). The pavement was a bit slick too.
Overall I was 94th, 19 of 41 in my AG, and total time was 2:04:11. I am realized that getting faster doesn't happen overnight, and I am chipping away and getting faster every time out. Time to keep chipping.
