The Good: My knees have recovered.
The Bad: My run wasn't there today.
The Ugly: I had to stop 1.2 miles in.
I went out way to fast, forgot to breate. Mile 1 6:52. I started to get light headed and couldn't breathe. I had to stop. I thought about quitting DNF a 5k. I have finished so many long races, but I wanted to quit today. I stopped and assessed myself and started to walk. I walked long enough for my heart rate to come down. Then I went into auto pilot, and ran the rest. 25:30. I can live with that, and have a new rule. Turkey Day races are for fun only. I made some key errors going into this 5k.
1. I have run maybe 5 times in the past 3 weeks due to knee pain.
2. I did not reevaluate my fitness and adjust. Today was a 23 minute day.
3. I got swept up in the crowd and didnt run my race.
4. I didn't eat follow my pre race run this am.
That said; today was so much more about looking at my beatiful wife and daughters and knowing that God HAS blessed me so much. They make me the person I am. The love, support, prayer, and energy I pour into them and they into me is what MATTERS. The family's journey is the main journey.
The 5k is now a footnote.
