This Week in Triathlon: 1 second.

Well this last week was a recovery week. I always feel so lazy during recovery weeks, but they are necessary to repair and heal the little nagging injuries. So lets get started.

Swim- Did 5 x 200s on Monday, 4 x 300 on Wed, and a 1000m time trial on Friday. Nothing exciting. It is tough to be impressed with my swim pace, but I am going to see the swim coach this week for an adjustment. 1hr 30min swimming.

Bike- The week started on Sunday with a killer 2hr 30min ride totaling 43.39 miles, then I had 3 other short rides during the week 72.95 miles total . I have come to 1 conclusion. For 70.3 or full Iron distance races you must be a monster on the bike. I feel the monster coming. 4hours and 15 min on the trusty steed. I have been practicing getting into my shoes while they are on the bike and getting out of them for the dismount.

Run- Almost no running this week. (hey I just follow the plan) 2 30 minute runs on Tuesday and Wed. and a 10k on Saturday.

--- Excerpt from my training schedule---

10k race, all out. Try to negative split each half, that is run the last 5k faster than the first 5k.
If you're using a heart monitor, note the average (175) heart rate for
the race. This should correspond to somewhere around RPE 7-8.
Stretch well after racing, take in fluids (not made from barley) afterwards

--- Excerpt from my training schedule---

I ran this race all out. I did not negative split, but came very close. My PR before this race in the 10k was 49:30. I ran this race in 49:24, however this was not a chip race, it was a mass start and it did take 5 second to cross the start line. Official time is 49:29. 1 second. PR I ran this race in the new kswiss K-ona triathlon shoes. These are very comfortable shoes, but the laces were too tight and I rubbed a spot on the back of my heel. More running this week...

A few other thoughts...

1. I retired my Zoot Advantage shoes this week, and in the final synopsis I offer this opinion. great for short races and very comfortable wearing with no socks, however they don't have the cushioning for long distance runs.

2. You may have noticed these last few months I have not been blogging as much about my adorable little girl, Eyrleigh. So let me offer this explanation. She is doing too many thing and picking up words too quickly for me to even keep track. She is a full blown little girl now and she is doing great. She is also very disappointed the Tour de France is over. After she get up from her nap she says " bikes! bikes!" So sometimes we find the "bikes" on youtube and we watch together all over again!

She knows how to say swim (and loves the wawa), She loves the "bikes" and just this week she saw someone running and said "running!" (can you say Ironkid?)

Next week: still looks fairly tame, but the next week looks MONSTER!
