Despite the utter chaos of 15,000 people being herded like cattle into corrals, (I was cow #12744 in corral #3), and I could not find gear check and some homeless guy is now the very proud owner of my nice EMS Heater sweatshirt, the rest of the race was well organized.
This course (unlike Tybee) was not flat. It was rolling hills through the neighborhoods of Atlanta. We ran through the MLK National Historic Site, Little 5 Points, Virginia Highland, Piedmont Park, on the GA Tech campus. The streets are not flat and desperately need to be re-paved. There were 3 bands that I saw playing on the race route. There was plenty of water (maybe too much), gatorade, and a GU station on the route. The race finished in what I call the mouse maze in Centennial Olympic Park. All in all a little knee pain, but a good race. This may be the site of my first marathon in 2009... Who Knows??
After the race I could not find Mary Ruth and Little Bear. turns out they were in a restricted area, and I should have taken Mary Ruth's suggestion and meet at the playground. As a result, Little Bear was a little cold, but we made our escape on MARTA and everyone is safe and warm again!
