Running Woes

All,

First of all Merry Christmas! As I write this Mary Ruth and I are sitting by the tree with the fireplace a blaze, and the wee little girl is asleep upstairs. Mary Ruth is planning this summers vacation to the High Points of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island Canada.

There are 13 Canadian provinces and only one Human has ever been to all 13, so why not start now? We still should not go above 10,000' so we hope to do these highpoints and do more hiking in the White Mountains of NH in 2008.

I was glad when 2006 was over, it was probably one of the hardest years of my life for many reasons, but I did still realize how fortunate I was in '06. Then came 2007 and for so many reasons this has been the best year ever!

Eyrleigh was born, fun playing sports and being ok at it, my company going public (which created financial stability for this young family ;). My only rock these 2 years and every year since 2001 is my adventure partner Mary Ruth.

So I am sad to see 2007 go, but 2008 proves to be a big year for us at the Hambricks.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, the name of this post is "Running Woes" I haven't been running much lately. Tendinitis in my right foot and both knees acting up. January will be key in training for Tybee 2-2-08. My goal now is to finish the race and stay injury free. Because sometimes you don't want the race to pass too quickly, enjoy the run!

Merry Christmas

Week 6

All,

Eyrleigh is now 6 weeks old and looks a fair amount different than not too long ago. She weighs 8.6 pounds and is also establishing routines. She rolled over from her stomach to back just the other day!

Eyrleigh Week 5

Well Christmas is getting closer and the gifts are piling up under the tree. Our greatest present ever is getting bigger every day and is now over 8 pounds. She is discovering her hands and feet, holding her head up a lot of the time, looking in the mirror and getting better with tummy time!

The Best Way to Watch a Football Game

Well, this last week Uncle Ben and Heather came to town to meet Eyrleigh. We put up the Christmas tree, and other decorations, and we finished Eyrleigh's 4th week on the planet with my little girl sleeping on my chest while the Pats beat the Steelers. That is the best feeling in the world. Your daughter sleeping on your chest... that beats any football game, mountaintop, or race any day.

She is growing so fast.

Can a pair of dress shoes sideline your Running "career"

The answer is YES. In an attempt to "dress up" for work on Monday I put on a pair of black dress shoes I have owned for a while. By noon my right foot was killing me. The shoe rubbed the outside of my right foot, and here we are Thursday and I wasn't able to run last night.

A word of advice to all of my fellow runners out there. Be picky about every shoe you wear, not just about your running shoes. I am wearing tennis shoes for the rest of the week to work.

Clark W Griswald

Well, I have finished the outside Christmas Lights. I decided not to do the roof because I would like to live through Eyrleigh's 1st Christmas. Here is a photo below. Click on the photo to see it larger. And no I won't make jello out of cat food.

A Great Day with my Family

The day started out with the night... Eyrleigh had been up every hour Thursday Night, but Friday night we tried a new swaddle and Mary Ruth fed her in the beginning of her stirring twice during the night. The result, we all slept 9 hours Friday Night!

We were up at 7:30 and went downstairs to have a family breakfast. Then while Eyrleigh was having "breakfast" I went to get my new Blackjack Smart Phone. This thing is awesome! I returned home and we left for Tribble Mill Park.

Today on my Half Marathon Training, I had to run 6 miles at a 8min/mile pace. The loop around the park's lake is 3 miles, so Mary Ruth and Eyrleigh started to walk the loop, and I ran the loop twice and met up with them at the end. I had to go get the car and bring it down 1/4 mile from the end, as Eyrleigh was hungry! I averaged a 7:41 min/mile pace!

Then we were off to eat a late lunch and do misc. shopping. We came home, watched football, did tummy time, and a bath. At 8pm Eyrleigh was off to dream land. And I took a recovery bath, and I must admit I did play with Eyrleigh's bath toys that shoot water!

As I write this Mary Ruth is reading the latest cooking magazine and I am listening to the Big12 Championship Game.

I wish everyday was like this!
